Community Water Demand and Sustainable Water Supply Planning in Nigeria: A Review

The purpose of this study is to review past works in water demands and sustainable supply planning Nigeria as reported by many researchers determine how improve the infrastructure sustainably. endowed with abundant surface ground resources. mean annual rainfall along coast south east 4 800 mm while it less than 500 north east. These sources are not tapped fullest most them polluted unsafe for use, resulting scarcity potable communities. Water crisis prevalent cities further exacerbated deteriorating infrastructure, political instability, poorly regulated laws. result has led detrimental consequences its citizens child mortality water-borne disease-related deaths have grown exponentially. Unsuitability distribution facilities, quantity transported, too much walking distance, long lines at points, poor maintenance inadequate bulk development brought about inefficiency facility. demand some countries world towns were reported. method adopted involved use journals, books other related literature. showed that systems places country state, unorganized incomplete. All highlighted problems various degrees provision Attempt was made fill gaps Public enlightenment, financing, monitoring, juicy remuneration packages best users recommended powerful tools towards sustenance infrastructure.
